Support Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society’s efforts to tell the full story of early colonial Lancaster County by participating in this fundraiser for the Lancaster Longhouse. Come and meet new people and experience an Indigenous meal prepared by local Native people who celebrate Native culture and generously provide education through our partner, Circle Legacy Center.
Built in 2013 on the grounds of the 1719 Herr House & Museum, the Lancaster Longhouse is a full-scale reproduction of an Eastern Woodland Indian Longhouse of the type inhabited by local Native communities before Lancaster’s influx of European immigrants. School children, adults, and families from across the U.S. and many from Europe experience the Herr House Museum and Longhouse each year. This fundraiser benefits structural longhouse maintenance and educational programming regarding both historical and current Native life in Lancaster. Thank you for your support!
Menu expected to include wild mushroom soup, venison stuffed squash (dried cranberries, pine nuts, and ground venison prepared in an acorn squash), stone-ground corn cakes with wild blueberries, strawberry tea, and water.
